Royal Yacht Brittania

  2nd Floor, Ocean Terminal, Leith      +44 131 555 5566     more than a year ago
A visit on board the Royal Yacht Britannia feels like an incredible privilege and gives the visitor not only the opportunity to explore a magnificent yacht  with its elegant state rooms that have been home to members of the Royal Family and hosted foreign dignitaries the world over, it also gives a very personal insight into 'Royal Life' on board. Did you know that the Queen slept in a very humble single bed? The Royal Yacht was built in Scotland (the last fully riveted ship) and went into service in 1953 and decommissioned in 1997, the photos throughout tell a story of happy days on board for the Queen and her family.
The Audio tour (available in 30 languages) is included in the ticket price and covers 5 decks from the bridge down to the engine rooms. It is quite a long but very informative tour, so a refreshment stop at the Royal Deck Tea Room is very welcome.
