Established in 1842, Manchester Piccadilly (originally called Store Street) is one of England’s great railway stations. A vital position in one of the country’s most important cities doesn’t hurt, and you can get from Manchester Piccadilly to pretty much anywhere in England without having to change trains, and trust us when we say that is a rarity. There are 14 platforms (and two public transport metrolink stands) and a whole host of food and drink options, along with a busy taxi rank and all the rest. The entire station is accessible for the disabled too. But where does the ‘Piccadilly’ part of the name come from? We’re not so sure about that, so do let us know if you uncover the truth…
