Tuscans are food traditionalists and we’re here to give you tips on where to experience the best of Florence’s culinary traditions at every budget. A lot of traditional foods are already vegetarian and in recent years Florence has come a long way in providing viable vegan options. Restaurants like to offer the full experience to their patrons, one which usually starts with toasted bread crostini appetizers (Tuscany’s answer to Bruschetta) and continues through with a few courses and glasses of wine before finishing with a desert. We love dining that way, but have come to appreciate an increase in quality in places that offer lighter and more contemporary dining options and have included them as well in our top recommendations for one of Italy’s most appetizing towns. Watchout for the opening hours, because many places are closed between traditional lunch and dinner hours.
