Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs

One of Riga’s largest Latvian beer bars and restaurants, Folk Club Ala is more of a cavern than a cellar. Descend into the depths of this huge space to find a great selection of affordable local brews and spirits as well as traditional cuisine from kotletes (a type of meatball) and grey peas with bacon to hard-to-find country dishes like pork and pearl barley stew. Although it’s a favourite among frugal students, it’s also popular with anyone who appreciates good food, drink and music under medieval brick vaulted ceilings. Reservations are essential if you'd like a table on a Friday or Saturday evening.

Located in the old Kabata, it is an excellent combination of fantastic food, home brewed beer, cool cellar bar, and friendly service at reasonable prices. The food is awesome! Try the beef stroganoff, or homemade Grandma's meatballs. Pork knuckle is monstrous but a bit fatty. You will not be disappointed.

A pretty amazing place that seems to go on and on - hundreds of nooks and crannies. Not sure about the food, but possibly the best selection of beer in Riga. Music can be a bit hit and miss as well, but the wonderful Kefirs have been known to play here !
