Time
Museums are a significant part of Nice and it's culture. Most exhibitions here celebrate the work of prominent artists who either have lived in Nice or surrounding areas or admired Nice and all the beautiful attractions it harbours. Some of the museums and galleries to visit include Musée Masséna, located on the popular Promenade des Anglais; Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain that exhibits items from the post-war era; Musée Matisse that celebrates the life and work of Matisse, the artist; and Musée des Beaux Arts which is the museum of fine arts.

Built by Hans-Georg Tersling, a Danish architect, Massena Museum was built with inspiration from infused international designs, especially Italian neoclassical style. Painters from the nineteenth century are usually present at the museum meeting visitors, these include Joseph Fricero, Antoine Trachel, and Alexis Mossa. Visitors can also enjoy the gardens that are perfectly designed outside the museum. Guided tours are available by appointment.

Musée Matisse

Matisse Museum stands beautifully and colourfully in Avenue des Arenes de Cimiez. Found at the museum is work that reflects the life of Matisse the artist, his influences and achievements as an artist. Some visitors hint that this museum is for radical fans of Matisse as most things displayed are sketches that he drafted when creating his famous work, as well as sculptures, tiles, stained glass, and other pieces that showed his relationship with the city of Nice. A film of Matisse's life and works is also played at the museum. In addition to admiring the colourful museum building and the work on display, visitors also appreciate the beautiful views of Nice, the mountains and water.
