Paris’ secret vineyards

Have you ever heard of Paris’ secret vineyards? Probably not. But wine has been an integral part of French culture since the Roman Empire. In the past, Paris was filled with beautiful vineyards. However, now just a few vineyards remain, with the most famous being that of Montmartre. Tucked away on the top of Montmartre hill, just behind the Sacré-Coeur, Le Clos Montmartre boasts plenty of narrow cobbled lanes, trailing vines and quirky architecture. It is actually a tranquil oasis in the midst of the busy 18th Arrondissement. The vineyard is closed to the public, except for a short time in October, but you can wander around its exterior and admire its beauty for free.
