Galway

Eyre Square

more than a year ago
A square worthy of a president! JFK to be exact. He made a speech here back in the 60s. Not sure what he was on about, but today this small, tidy green area, often decorated with stalls, filled with busker sounds and accompanied by food stalls, a ferris wheel and seasonal markets this is a cute little place to arrive at or leave the city when travelling by train or bus. Characterized by the iconic statue of the traditional fishing boat Galway Hooker with its red-brown sails and flags depicting coats of arms of Galway’s famous City Tribes.
