Comparing to Poland's rich, lengthy and tumultuous history, Canada might be taken at face value as just a young little thing. But, don't mistake a shorter history with a lack of cultural richness; diversity is one of the most crucial elements making up the Canadian identity—and its backbone is founded on immigration. For many years, Polish immigrants in Canada have been making notable marks in the fields of science, culture, and the arts as an integral part of the country's cultural mosaic. In honour of Canada's 150th birthday, the Emigration Museum in Gdynia brings us a closer look at the extension of Poland's history into "Maple Leaf Country," via the stories of Polish-Canadians—both the ones you know about and the ones you don't.
