The fabulous 135-year-old Hanover zoo is a proactive and educational enterprise that's also a hell of a lot of fun. With over 2,600 animals from every centimetre of the globe from elephants to sealions to nasty snakes, the zoo works hard on numerous conservation projects and, for a zoo anyway, is worthy of much applause.
