The outstanding red-sandstone Sherbrooke is a grand, elevated baronial mansion built in 1896. The recent refurb has returned the mansion to its former glory. The place oozes luxury and grace allowing you to dip your toes in the water of the bygone days when Glasgow led the way in heavy steel manufacturing and its owners had pads like this. Traditional furnishings in deep tones sit happily alongside claw-footed baths and plasma screens. Perhaps the biggest bonus is the proximity to Pollok Country Park and the world famous Burrell Collection. En route, do yourself a favour and walk out of the lush gardens to have a nosey round the neighbourhood. Check out how the other half live, one stunning home after another. Bet you didn’t expect this is Glasgow?
