Known locally as the Clockwork Orange, on account of its citrus trains and circular route, this Glasgow icon is the world's third oldest subway system and one of the most efficient ways to travel between the city centre (Buchanan St) and West End (Kelvinbridge, Hillhead). An estimated 14.5m passengers are expected to use the service in 2009. Single, return, multi-journey or one day 'Discovery' (after 09:30) tickets can be bought at any station - by machine or counter - and some on-line. Pop into either of SPT's Travel Centres at St Enoch Subway Station or Buchanan Bus Station for more info.
