Top 5 Scottish Food Gifts

more than a year ago
All too often these days it is difficult to know what souvenir or gift to take home from a visit abroad. Let's be honest most of us have way too much stuff cluttering up our homes, so for some time now we usually tend towards buying 'consumable' gifts. Here are our top recommendations (in no particular order) for 'edible' gifts from Edinburgh that will not fail to delight.
Edinburgh Castle Rock
Sweets, either in stick format or smaller chunks, resembling coloured blackboard chalk and crumblier in character to other boiled sweets or rock candy.
Shortbread
The Scottish signature biscuits are impossible to resist.
Heather Honey
Heather is by far the most widespread flower of Scotland, across the Highlands and Moors and so it is no surprise that the Heather Honey has a long tradition and strong anti-bacterial properties. A real superfood!
Scottish Whisky Fudge or Tablet
Spoilt for choice in this department as for as many different brands of whisky there are so to are the varieties of fudge or tablets. Tablets, by the way, are a Scottish form of  sugar confection similar to fudge, made from sugar condensed milk and butter, slightly harder yet crumbly, very sweet and very addictive.
Oatcakes
Traditional dry cracker biscuit made from oats and flour, a tasty snack with cheese or jam.
