Warner Bros Move World, or simply Movie World to locals, is not only the only movie-related theme park in Australia, but also home to several active film studios and sound stages that belong to the park's parent company Village Roadshow, one of the country's largest media firms and a partner on many blockbuster Hollywood productions. Just like in Hollywood, classic comic book heroes (and villains) are well-represented here, including Batman, Superman and Green Lantern among many others, while there are Loony Toons characters aplenty to keep the younger members of the family entertained. The park boasts some 18 rides in total, which are helpfully categorised by a 'thrillmetre' on the official website. In addition to the various roller coasters – some of which, like the Arkham Asylum, are augmented with virtual reality headsets – other activities include professional stunt driver performances, the Star Tour and a behind the scenes look at how everything operates. There are more than a dozen different restaurants and concession stands (we always make sure to drop by Ben & Jerry's), as well as a ton of retail outlets where you can load up on movie-related souvenirs and gifts. Located in the suburb of Oxenford, Movie World is most easily reached by car, but if you're using public transport the TX2 bus line will get you there from Surfers Paradise, or anywhere else along the coast between Broadbeach and Main Beach, in about 45 minutes.
