It will take about an hour from Heraklion to the east to reach one of the most dazzling beaches on Crete. Agios Nikolas is picturesque with its neoclassical architecture. The view at the Marina and the port while sitting at the taverna is terrific. The beaches around (Kitroplatia and Voulisma are the favourites) are among the greatest on the island.
