Gül Baba's Türbe

A Muslim site of pilgrimage in Budapest, Gül Baba's türbe (sacred tomb), built in 1548, sits atop a small hill overlooking the Danube. The holy man's name means 'Father of the Roses,' and he was responsible for both founding the Bektashi order in Buda and planting roses in the district known to this day as Rózsadomb (Rose Hill). His coffin lies in the octagonal building. The site was restored by the Turkish government about 10 years ago. Afterwards walk down quaint cobblestone street Gül Baba utca.
