The idea of taking the ruined bar concept that predominates in the 7th district, and giving it an upmarket spin, was an idea whose time was overdue, until Ötkert flung open its doors a few years back, in a side street of the 5th. So here instead of scruffy students, you have self-regarding hipsters, instead of graffiti, you have Helmet Newton photographic posters, and in place of the usual toasted sandwiches (if you're lucky) they have a full menu that runs all the way to tenderloin steak at 4 290 HUF. You can order a champagne cocktail if that takes your fancy. Beers are fairly reasonably priced though, in keeping with the ruined bar spirit.
