Venues in Budapest

Perhaps the first choice to make about where to stay is choosing between Buda and Pest. Buda is generally much quieter than Pest, and it's where you find not only the castle district, and cobblestone streets but some plush residential areas, with rows of mansion houses sitting side-by-side. In Pest however, especially inner-city Pest, you're seldom more than a few minutes walk away from bars and restaurants – or come to that, museums, galleries and shops. If it's views that you crave, there are panoramic vistas from the hills of Buda or across the river in Pest, along the Danube riverbank.
