This restored Georgian mansion provides a suitably salubrious setting in which to celebrate 300 years of Ireland's outstanding literary legacy. As befits a nation synonymous with award-winning scribes, the museum provides an ornate backdrop for prose, poetry, plays and personal possessions from the likes of Wilde, Beckett, Joyce and Yeats. All genres are represented, from the magnificent horror of Bram Stoker's Dracula to the imaginative allegory that is Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. A section is also devoted to children's literature, and portraits and sculptures bring each writer into focus. It is the only city museum to offer a multi-lingual digital audio guide. A coffee shop, crafts and bookshop continue to capture the creative mood and keep your cultural juices flowing.
