Johannesburg

Johannesburg has long been one of the main shopping destinations for cross-border traders from Southern Africa. In particular small retailers and resellers come to the city to buy in bulk from Joburg’s many large wholesalers. Among the biggest are the city’s network of ‘China Malls’ selling clothing, electronics, accessories and homeware, much of it made in China, at exceptionally low wholesale prices.

During the ongoing fight against Covid-19, many stores at Joburg’s China Malls have begun selling essential items such as personal protective equipment (PPE) like face shields, medical-grade face masks, protective suits, cleaning products and hand sanitisers. Most of Joburg’s China Malls now sell these in bulk, and many are also slowly receiving stock of infrared head thermometers which are also set to become essential for hospitality businesses and schools.

What’s on sale at China Mall? Joburg’s China Malls generally do not have any notable online presence so it can be difficult to find out what exactly is on sale and at what prices. If you want to shop at China Mall and buy specific products, it is best simply to go there, see what’s on sale, and engage directly with the mall’s many retailers about what they stock and can order.

Here’s a brief guide to the city’s biggest China Malls

Joburg’s original and largest China Mall, is the China Mall in Amalgam in south Joburg. With more than 500 stores it is said to be one of the biggest shopping centres in Southern Africa. China mall is great but it would be helpful if people could order stuff from their website instead of having to go all the way from other provinces,I mean it's too far and it's almost always crowded plus it takes time to get there whilst we can just order and do other stuff...so they should consider this
