There's often a focus on work that also evokes socio-political engagement, particularly within a South African context. This is a cutting-edge and off-beat space that is known particularly for representing young and emerging artists, and its exhibitions openings and parties that attract Joburg's coolest kids.

Not shy of representing artists whose work is shocking to more mainstream audiences, among the gallery's more notorious exhibitions was a show by the celebrated yet controversial artist Ayanda Mabulu, who hosted a ritual lamb slaughter at his opening night.
