Art Naif Festival

Jun 25 - Sep 11 2021       ul. Oswobodzenia 1 (Nikiszowiec)
Naïve art, also known as art brut, outsider art, or non-professional art, is exactly as it sounds: it's art predominantly made at the hands of an artist who lacks the training and formal education that a professional artist typically undergoes. Twenty years ago the industrial shaft in Katowice was transformed into a Contemporary Art Gallery and since then it had been the home of the International Festival of Naïve Art. Today the Art Naif Festival is one of the largest International Festivals of Naïve Art in Europe. This unique festival brings together non-professional artists from all over the world.  The post-industrial interiors of the Wilson Shaft Gallery are filled with paintings, ceramics, and sculptures created by Naïve artists from across the world. Furthermore, this exciting event showcases art workshops for kids, concerts, and ArtJarmark in Nikiszowiec. The event aims to encourage diversity and to impact the lives of people through art.

In 2021, with the majority of the year challenged by the Coronavirus pandemic, the leading theme of this year's Art Naif will be more inward-looking than in previous editions, putting the spotlight on the world of Naïve art in Poland! Overcome with optimism, rich colors, creating fairy-tale realities resulting from the almost unlimited imagination of artists, the festival organisers invite you to the magical world of art.
