Ars Independent is exactly that, a festival that eschews the usual norms and pageantry, and instead gets down to the business of presenting its always interesting multimedia programme of films, animations, music videos and even video games to enthusiastic audiences in Katowice.

Look no further than the festival's logo and primary award for confirmation of this, a black horse - a sly reference to 'the protofilm experiment of madman Eadweard Muybridge, a ironic commentary on the golden fauna of film awards, or a reference to the mining heritage of Upper Silesia'. Sounds like our type of festival indeed!
 
This year the various film screenings, digital games exhibitions, concerts and live acts, meetups, discussions and more will take place over a week in early October, with films shown on the big screens of the Silesia Film Institute's studio cinemas.
