Arriving in Klaipėda is as easy as falling off a log.

By plane
Klaipėda is served by Palanga Airport, which is about 25km north of the city. Miniscule even by local standards, find a café, ticket office, car rental kiosks and little else. Buses to Klaipėda leave from the stand outside the main entrance. The journey time is about 50 minutes and tickets can be bought from the driver for €2. Taxi prices start at around €30.

By ferry
With the exception of a small shop and café, services at the international ferry terminal are few and far between. Bus Nº9 goes all the way to the city centre. Give the driver €1 and punch the ticket in the machine. A journey to Old Town in a taxi should cost €5.

By bus
Klaipėda’s bus station is just north of the city centre and walking into town is an option. Buses leave from outside the front of the building. A ride to Old Town in a taxi shouldn’t cost more than €3 from an honest driver.

By train
Taxis can be found outside the front of the station. A ride to Old Town should cost around €3. Minibus Nº8 leaves from a stand just to the right of the exit and goes south through the city centre. Pay the driver €0.80 and shout when you want him to stop.
