Piec'Art

  ul. Szewska 12 ,   Old Town          (+48) 12 429 16 02     more than a year ago

The legend of this esteemed jazz den dates back to 1999, and it has managed to remain at the forefront of Kraków's respected jazz scene ever since, attracting some of the biggest names in the world jazz scene to its stage. Live concerts take place almost nightly (check their website for exact details) in the vaulted brick cellars, attracting an artsy crowd of jazz playing peers and purists. The upstairs coffee and whiskey bar adds a touch of class to ul. Szewska, featuring the longest bar in town, sandwiches, and silent films flickering on the wall.

It you hit Piec’ Art around 8.30 in the evening you can be sure that most of the days som tight ass live jazz is being delivered. There is an admission fee (with student discount) that varies depending on the band playing. The live act goes down in one of two vaulted cellars. So if you are not totally into jazz and not would like to pay for it but still would like to listen to it, go to the other cellar. There you will find an excellent bar (try the coctail drinks they are pop on!), spot the jazz legends on the walls and decide if the instruments hanging from the ceiling are a bit over the top or not.Piec’ Art is also a good hang out for drinks in the late night. Me and my friends didn’t stumble up the stairs to the club street of Szweska until aorund three o’clock in the morning...
