We've been touting this place for years, but now Bottiglieria 1881 has the industry accolades that people apparently value, earning the city's first and only Michelin star in 2020. (Congrats! We think they've earned it, but we're still waiting for confirmation from Firestone, Goodyear, Shell and Exxon Mobil...)
Discreetly hidden on a side street off Plac Wolnica, this small, intimate wine bar exudes class and taste with a sharp decór of fine stonework and aged rough-hewn timber, an open kitchen, VIP service, and an expertly stocked wine cellar (of course) with over 450 vintages. The team of three top chefs regularly change the mercifully concise menu of mouth-watering modern Polish dishes, which the deft recommendations of the sommelier perfectly complement. If you can't decide on just one dish, spring for a 5- or 7-course tasting menu (served from 17:00). A great place for business or courtship, Bottiglieria has won awards from not only Michelin, but also Wine Spectator magazine. Hardly a surprise, since there are embarrassingly few venues in Kraków as beautifully elegant and unique as this one.

Krakow
In the destructive wake of the pandemic, which saw the surprising closure of Poland's other 2 Michelin star restaurants in Warsaw, Bottiglieria 1881 is now the only Michelin star in Poland. In fact, Kraków now has more restaurants in the 2021 Michelin guide than the capital does.
