Freed from the confines of Tytano, Lastriko has really taken off. This enviably-located Old Town hideaway has it all, making it a potentially dangerous discovery. With three separate areas to meet and relax, most noteworthy is the enormous patio garden, which features its own bar and even DJs on warm summer evenings. Adjacent is the chic, minimal interior of Lastriko Bistro, which serves delicious breakfast/brunch until 16:00 (brunch also served in the garden), plus tapas, desserts and savoury finger foods. As if that weren't adequate, there's even a stealthy cellar club on weekends (open Fri & Sat 21:00-04:00) that serves up a playful mix of serious beats and ironic party anthems for a young, devoted cocktail-drinking crowd.

Forget the market square and follow the locals to this hidden garden.

The name 'Lastriko' refers to the flecked composite material apparently known as 'terrazzo' in English, and the bistro applies this idea to its interior design, with Lastriko's colourful food and drinks being the accents in a uniformly ivory-white interior with '70s Art Deco Revival forms and furnishings; it's not just unique, but highly photogenic.

Certainly one of the best brunch spots in the city, the menu offers a wide range of savoury poached egg breakfasts served on toast or waffles, plus pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, banana bread and more, paired with delicious coffee, wine, cocktails or mocktails. Lastriko is known for their popular Pornstar Martini, or choose from their changing list of other funky and fresh signature drinks. The perfect place for morning-after meetups, a midday refueling or evening escapades, in the warmer months there are few places in the Old Town as lovely as the patio garden full of plants. Escape from the market square and seek out this stylish urban oasis.
