Ranny Ptaszek

Seemingly straight outta Williamsburg, this self-described 'breakfast bar' combines the classic American budget diner (pink retro decor, sunny '60s soul grooves) with the modern brunchery (the vegetarian menu is more healthy habits than greasy spoon). Affordable, served super fast and cooked up by the mom and daughter team of Kasia & Zosia Pilitowska, most of their meals involve a tasty composition of hot and cold eats - shaksuka, vegan sausage, patatas bravas, pickled veggies, hummus and more, or go for one of their sandwiches, salads, or simply a coffee and cake. With only two small tables, most of the seating is at the bar and window counters, which is Ptaszek's biggest drawback - it's too tight of a squeeze for groups or families, and there's a bit of pressure not to linger too long due to the volume of people waiting for a table. In that sense it continues the great tradition of Brooklynite brunch eateries with lines out the door on weekends, but that's a bit of authenticity we could really do without.
