When the American donut brand Krispy Kreme opened its first South African branch in the Rosebank shopping precinct in 2016 the excitement reached fever pitch with eager fans camping out overnight to be the first through the doors. These days the hysteria has calmed down somewhat although on weekends the queues still stretch out the door. You can also find Krispy Kreme at the Sandton Gautrain station and at Mall of Africa in Midrand.
