Kyiv

The National Museum of Aviation

  Medova 1      (+380) 44 451 83 14     more than a year ago
A place rarely mentioned by travel guides to Kyiv. More than 70 airplanes and helicopters, rockets, weapons, engines and the world's only collection of the Tu-22 bombers capable of carrying nuclear bombs and everything is on the ground so you can not only see them, but also enter inside some of the exhibits. Getting there is a bit tricky, but believe us it worth a little effort. Tours in English are available for 200Hr. The most convenient way to get there is by tax (60-70Hr from the city centre). By public transport, take trolleybus #8 from Lva Tolstoho metro station or Universytet metro station (the stop on the side of St Volodymyr's Cathedral), take off at Sevastopolska Sq. On the same stop catch a minibus #220. The Museum is its last stop. Admission 20Hr. One visit to the aircrafts - 5Hr.
