The long cavernous basement of a medieval wooden building in Liepāja’s old town is now home to a popular restaurant and bar serving international cuisine like steaks, stuffed pork fillet, lamb kebabs and local fish as well as its namesake – potatoes served in a number of different ways. The intricately vaulted ceilings lend the cellar an ancient ambience, while the high-backed booths upholstered with copper-coloured pleather put one in mind of a 1970s cocktail lounge. A stage area occasionally hosts local acts but your kids can explore the children’s tent during the day while you enjoy a Latvian craft brew or Latvia's national game - novuss.
