The aptly named Farm not only offers refined international cuisine made with local ingredients, including Latvian farm-raised prawns, but even its appearance puts one in mind of modern barn architecture. Two large black and white dining halls are separated by floor-to-ceiling wine racks, but if you’d like to sit at the round chef’s table next to the open-plan kitchen you’ll have to make a right. An oasis for Riga’s well-heeled, this trendy restaurant, which overlooks the Viestura dārzs park, is far from Old Riga’s cobblestones, hence the lack of foreign-language chatter so common to the city’s most prestigious eating establishments. That said, it’s not snobby. In fact, the staff had no problem wheeling our bicycle to a safe place in the back, so this might actually be the only place in Riga with free valet parking for bikes!
