This was the most prosperous part of the city before the war, as many of the beautiful, yet decaying, old houses testify. Check out the Mežaparka estrāde, the open-air auditorium where the mass concerts of the song festivals are held, or hit the zoo. Take tram N°11 from Barona to the Mežaparks stop.
