Veldze, which can be loosely translated as Refreshment, is by its own admission a local hangout where hipsters drink craft brews by night and families lunch on weekend afternoons. Grey walls, light wooden furniture, industrial-style lamps with retro filament light bulbs and an indie music soundtrack all make for a great place to relax on Riga’s left bank. A small menu of international pub food from huge chicken wings and burgers to pastas and breakfast items like omelettes and a full English is available as well as table football. It’s also a great place for lunch after a visit to the nearby Saturday Kalnciems Fair.
