Opened in 1956, not much has changed at the venerable Mossis in the past six decades, as stepping through the doors always feels a bit like walking into one of those vintage postcards of the Beirut that was still commonly known as the Paris of the Middle East. Even the poster in the bathroom reminding patrons of proper etiquette is cute and folksy. Serving up a huge variety of sandwiches and other dishes to take away or eat at the handful of bar-style seats lining the walls, your neck may very well get sore from staring upwards at the menu above the kitchen before placing your order. Our favourites are the small finger food options like mini Armenian lahmacun with pomegranate molasses, mini pizzas with slices of soujouk and a tangy sauce and so-called chicken salad bites (which are tasty but also worth ordering for aesthetics alone), while a basterma or soujouk with egg sandwich makes a great late breakfast with a bit of local Armenian flavour. Find it a couple of blocks from the Dora roundabout, on the same street as Arax Falafel.
