This defensive fortification built in 1553 was stormed by an army of bored but enterprising students (current German chancellor Angela Merkel among them) in 1973 and converted into a club over five toilsome years. Today the fortress is occupied by students, families and tourists alike, offering simple meals and affordable cocktails. Sunday brunch for €7.50 (children €3.50) starting at 09:00.
