This sprawling museum inside the swan-like 16th-century former Town Hall more than makes up for the exercise required to visit thanks to the building that hosts it, and as such—assuming that you’re capable of climbing up and down several flights of ancient stairs—comes highly recommended. In the basement are a few archaeological finds and an old prison cell, whilst on the second floor are temporary exhibitions and the former office of the town’s historical Burmistras (Burgomaster) complete with an old wooden garderobe lurking behind a door near his desk. Start climbing the stairs here and pass through a huge space under the roof and set off for the top of the tower for splendid views of the city. An architectural gem and an hour or so well spent indeed
