10 Unusual Destinations That Are Actually Affordable for Students

more than a year ago
It doesn’t matter how old we are - we always need rest. When we deprive ourselves of this opportunity, then fatigue wins, and our resources fall to zero. Rest is an integral part of our life, which should not be neglected. At this time, our body reboots, relieves stress, and recovers.

A vacation is a great opportunity to learn something new, make new friends, and be inspired by new achievements. Holidays are especially important for students. Studying in college is full of stress because of the endless tasks you have to complete.

The period during the last weeks of study is especially difficult. While completing a large number of assignments, many people decide to pay someone to write my paper instead of doing everything on their own. In the second option, one spends much more time and effort.

The best relaxation is a change of scenery. Active or quiet rest - it doesn’t matter. You need to choose what you like and escape the routine for some time. During vacations, we can learn a lot about the world and about the life of other people in the places we visit. We make new friends with random passers-by, get inspired by new destinations, and gain more energy for our future accomplishments.

Travelling for Students

The main question students ask themselves when planning a trip is how to make it cheaper. Luckily, you can find plenty of awesome budget-friendly travel destinations. Besides, if you opt for accommodations like hostels and campgrounds, you will save a significant amount of money. And if you like to travel with friends, this option is usually much more affordable and, of course, fun!

To maximise your savings, we recommend travelling in the off-season. At a time like this, ticket and housing prices drop, there are fewer people on the streets and beaches, and cities are much quieter.
We’ve prepared a list of travel destinations that will fit your student budget if you start saving up and planning your vacation beforehand.

Panama City, Florida

Florida has always been a top spot for college spring breakers. The brightly shining sun, warm sand, parties on the beach, and many vacationing students - this is a typical picture people have on their minds. The city is full of cheap housing and affordable street food. What else do you need while you’re young?

Niagara Falls, USA/Canada

If you’re looking for stunning natural beauty, this place is perfect. The beauty and power of Niagara Falls will allow you to relax and gain strength before resuming your studies. Pro tip: check out accommodations in the Buffalo area. They are usually pretty affordable, especially if you come during the off-season when there are fewer tourists.

Sofia, Bulgaria

It’s one of the oldest cities in Europe that will delight you with its rich culture and interesting places. Sofia offers European vacations at the lowest prices. The oldest architecture, breathtaking views, and mountains will impress you. And for winter sports lovers, Bulgaria provides one of the best ski resorts at affordable prices.

Arenal Area, Costa Rica

Costa Rica is very popular among college students because it’s a cheap destination that offers many adventure opportunities. You can save money by staying in hostels, and some of them even give you complimentary breakfast. And if you’re looking for something authentic and want to try Costa Rican cuisine, aim for places called “sodas” serving cheap local food.

Kathmandu, Nepal

It’s an amazing place radically different from the rest. Nepal attracts different people: from active and extreme climbers to those who are looking for peace and tranquility in temples. This country has stunning nature, and no cases of poaching have been noticed for a long time.  For accommodation, we recommend staying in home hotels in local settlements. The hostesses warmly welcome the guests and, for a little help with the housework, share local cuisine recipes.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City combines modern skyscrapers and architecture of the past. The busy and crowded streets invite you to immerse yourself in the rich nightlife and variety of street food in the capital of Vietnam. Vietnamese cuisine is varied and rich in taste, thanks to a large number of spices and special additives. Rice and noodles are the main local dishes. In the city, you also need to visit the famous Museum of War Victims. There, you can learn more about the Vietnam War. And if you go on a small cruise along the Mekong River, you can see rice plantations and world-famous houses on the water.

Kos, Greece

Greece attracts crowds of tourists every year. The country is recognised as one of the cheapest yet most beautiful and exciting places. Greece gave this world a lot: literature, music, science, etc. We recommend visiting the homeland of Hippocrates, the island of Kos. Sandy beaches, ancient Greek monuments, and a large selection of cheap accommodations make for a great vacation.

Hawaiian Islands, USA

There is no need to explain here. The Hawaiian Islands are presented as a separate world. Special culture, beaches, volcanoes, amazing underwater world, and surfing appeal to everyone.  The East Coast Volcanoes National Park is a must-see. The largest and most active volcanoes in the world are located there. If you drive past them in your car at night, you can see lava paths flowing down.

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is the city where young people go first when travelling to Europe. During the day, you can walk around historical places and shops and try various foods for pleasantly surprising prices.
At night, unique ruin pubs await you. These nightclubs are famous for buildings that should have been demolished a long time ago. The unusual interior creates a special atmosphere. The next day, the best idea would be to visit the baths. There, you can relax and recover from a stormy night.

Peniche, Portugal

Peniche is often referred to as the wave capital of Europe. Surfing in Portugal is very developed. Here, you can find many schools and camps that are happy to welcome guests from all over the world. Beginners and professionals come here all year round for training, competitions, and just to spend time in the company of like-minded people. In addition to surfing, the country offers to get acquainted with its rich history and magical ocean views.

Summing Up

Our world is full of amazing must-see places. Each of them is ready to share their culture, history, traditions, and customs with us. You can choose between big cities with an active pace of life or remote places filled with harmony and silence. Whether it’s a concrete jungle with tall buildings or wild forests and beaches, each of the places is worth visiting.

Travelling allows us to learn and try something new. Some of these experiences change us or open up new opportunities for us. It doesn’t matter if it’s a trip for a week or a month, or maybe even for the next weekend. Relax, learn new things, get inspired, and return to your usual life with renewed vigor. Now is the best time to travel!
