Mamin Kolio Tavern

This traditional Bulgarian folklore style tavern (locally known as 'mehana') is just a stone's throw from the city centre. Decorated with knick knacks from rural life and traditional woven tablecloths, you can easily forget that you are in the capital and enjoy rural Bulgarian hospitality. The menu includes all the specialities from Bulgarian cuisine, including the  sizzling hot 'sach' dishes. Be prepared for some more unusual items on the menu, and maybe before or after a night on the town the special platters 'for hungry men & their friends' are worth considering, although it might be a good idea to order them in advance. The restaurant itself is spread over several floor and caters from small intimate dinners to large groups.
