Vasilki (Васильки)

Although there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the dining area at street level, the upstairs area complete with hand-painted furniture and a ringside seat of the attached delicatessen is the place to be here, unless you don’t like cigarette smoke when you dine. The menu is extensive, affordable, filing, and, for an entirely unpretentious restaurant, exceptionally good. Because you’re now east of Berlin you’ll need to do battle with piped music and a television, but it’s amazing how quickly one acclimatises to such nonsense.
