Groot is named after the extraterrestrial, tree-like creature featured in the Marvel blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy.” According to owner Ovanes Pogosyan, the name was chosen in homage to Groot’s life-saving feats throughout the film – he hopes that by coming here, visitors will make healthy and cruelty-free food choices. It’s not for nothing that the motto here is “super food for super heroes”! Groot is the perfect place for a detoxing and Instagram worthy breakfast (think colorful acai bowls or tofu scramble), hearty lunch (a hempburger or a “El Macho” burrito perhaps?) and a well-balanced dinner (the “IQ Soup” and quinoa with vegetables is a real hit). The menu is very easy to navigate with an entire page dedicated to the different codes (raw, protein-rich, “beautiful and sexy”, Omega 3 and so on). There are two pages dedicated just to juices, smoothies and health “shots” and a few wines and Japanese craft beers are also on offer. The interior mirrors the natural, organic ethos of the menu and is rich in earthy tones while the slightly hipster vibe of the place is conveyed by some very funky wall paintings.
