Russian speaking Jews have a reasonably wide range of centers and synagogues where they can take part in activities related to their faith. Thanks to the hard work of Rabbi Yaakov Klein and his wife Rivka, English-speaking Jews also have a place that they can call home away from home – the International Jewish Community!
The International Jewish Community of Moscow was established in the summer of 2000. Under the leadership of Rabbi Yaakov and Rivka Klein, the “expat” Jewish community serves the needs of expatriate Jews from many backgrounds, including representatives of the international media, businessmen, educators, diplomats and their families. The community center also offers assistance to the many Jewish tourists and businessmen who visit Moscow.
Each and every Jew can send their kids to the Sunday Hebrew school, come for Shabbat/holiday services and meals, take part in one of the many activity programs for the Jewish Holidays and especially for the ladies there’s a Jewish Women’s circle. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and, some would even argue, the main highlight of the center are Rabbi and Mrs. Klein’s 5 smiling, adorable kids who are always running around and infecting others with their laughter.
