Meininger

Miles away from the city centre you'll find the Amsterdam version of this international chain of hotels. Conveniently located next to the Sloterdijk railway station, it's only a five-minute train ride (one stop) from the hustle and bustle of the Central Station. The hotel won't win any awards for its architecture, but it does provide comfortable accommodation. Rooms could be bigger, but with great wi-fi, comfy beds and functionally designed bathrooms, they're good value for money. In fact, the Meininger is more of an upmarket hostel than a hotel, but its budget prices can't be beat. An all you can eat buffet can be had for only €8 and the friendly staff even turned a blind eye when we packed some extra sandwiches for lunch.
