Eilander Balgexpres

Just past the eastern part of mainland Schiermonnikoog, lies de Balg, one of the most peaceful 'islands' of the Wadden Sea. This giant plate of sand rose to the surface in the early 1800's and still grows each year. Also it gets flooded regularly by the strong forces of the sea. Its current inhabitants, a bunch of relaxed seals, can be visited by the Eilander Balgexpres. Basically the tractor is dragging an extra long covered wagon (45 seats) through the mud and water. Fun and highly recommended. Bookings are obliged and must be made at Bezoekerscentrum, Torenstreek 20.
