Carnaval de Nice

In the months of February or March, Nice Carnival gets underway. There are all sorts of activities happening during the carnival like dancing, music and floats - lots and lots of floats! - all of which occur on the Promenade des Anglais and Place Massena. The celebrations are so infectious that during these two weeks of dancing and parades, visitors from Cannes have things to do every day.

Festin des Cougourdons

A popular festival in Nice, Festin des Cougourdons takes place in March for people who love music, dance, food, and gourds fruits (Cougourdons). These Cougourdons are decorated in different ways to showcase how people in Nice use them, from musical instruments to kitchen utensils.

European Night of Museums

For one night in the month of May every year, the museums across Europe open their doors for people to enter for free until 1 am. Museums in Nice participate and also open their doors for free. This event was created to encourage people to visit museums and to promote arts and culture.

Bastille Day

Bastille Day is a day that celebrates French culture. In the month of July, different events all over France, including Nice, are held. These include military and civilian parades, dances, parties, eating meals with other people, and fireworks. On this day, it is a public holiday in France, therefore, most businesses are closed.

Journées du Patrimoine

Journées du Patrimoine is organised by the Ministry of Culture and is held for a few days in the month of September. Also known as the European Heritage Days, historic monuments and other cultural places are open to the public. Many of these sites, on a normal day, are closed to the public, but for a few days, in order to promote culture, they open their doors.

Le Village de Noël

In the month of December, and in the spirit of Christmas, the Christmas Village is lit up and filled with vibrant things to do for the whole month. There are so many kids stuff, gifts, food, shows, and little cottages with craftsmen goods inside. Everything to do with Christmas is found here and can be purchased from the village. There is even a Santa house for the kids to take pictures.
