Tacuma & Bowie Funk Experience

more than a year ago
Two of the funkiest musicians on the planet, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Joseph Bowie, will be bringing their unparalleled brand of so-called free funk to this year's Nišville. Longtime collaborators with each other was well as with some of leading names of jazz and funk since the 1970s, Tacuma and Bowie (no relation to David) are guaranteed to put on a show that will need to be seen to be believed. We saw them perform with Jean-Paul Bourelly at a club in Germany in November last year, and can still the funky vibes bouncing around in our brain if we close our eyes and concentrate.

The Saint Louis born Bowie comes from a long line of jazz musicians and was the founder of the avant-garde funk band Defunkt in 1978, which has since put out nearly two dozen albums, and is still active today with trombonist Bowie at helm.

The legendary jazz bassist Jamaaldeen Tacuma is probably best known for his work on the Gramavision label in the 1970s and 80s, and has returned to the jazz spotlight in recent years after keeping a relatively low profiles for the preceding two decades. Definitely a performance not to be missed.
