Bolnička is the Macedonian word for hospital and, along with another similar church in Ohrid, this often overlooked little gem once served as a place of quarantine where visitors to the town during the period of the Black Death were required to stay for 40 days before being allowed to mingle with the inhabitants. Inside are some fantastic 14th-century frescoes, a 19th-century iconostasis and little else.
