This five-arched stone bridge was built in 1709 with stones most likely taken from the ruins of a nearby fort. It was originally an oak bridge built by Captain Shaw in 1655 to allow Oliver Cromwell's gunners to cross the River Lagan. Today it attracts young romantics, families and dog walkers content to soak up its peaceful atmosphere and enjoy a Mr Whippy ice cream.

beautiful walk ways peaceful and lots to see dog loves it but only thing i would say was not any bins on way around it apart from start and at lock keeper cafe so if you have ur dog and it poo's ur carrying poo for over 2 miles not good .please put few bins in and around walk has i see a lot of filled descarded poo bags whivh is destroying area and dangerous for wildlife.
