Akershus Fortress or the Akershus Castle is built in the 13th century and used to protect Oslo and serve it as a royal residence.
Today the Medieval Castle is a museum, open for public all year round. It has a visitor's centre which provides tourists with every additional detail, as well as a Castle Church, which is also available for everyone.
