Paris

Disneyland Paris

Ah, Disneyland, that whimsical carousel of joy plonked right in the middle of... well, Marne-la-Vallée. Just a stone's throw (if you can throw really, really far) from Paris proper. It's the place where your bank account takes a slight nosedive, but hey, who's counting when you're in the quest for happiness, right?

Now, Disneyland Paris isn't just a theme park, it's more like a vast empire dedicated to the art of making you part ways with adulthood, even if just for a day or two. It's divided into two main parks, each with its own flavour of magic. First, there's Disneyland Park, which is like stepping straight into a fairytale – if said fairytale were on a sugar rush. It's home to Sleeping Beauty's Castle, which, in my humble opinion, is the pièce de résistance of the whole shindig. It's where dreams manifest in high definition, especially during the night when the fireworks make you question the very fabric of reality.

Then there's Walt Disney Studios Park, which pulls back the curtain and shows you how the movie magic happens. Spoiler alert: it's equally as fascinating, with a dash of pixie dust. This place is where you can deep-dive into the behind-the-scenes action, and if you're lucky, you might just catch a glimpse of Mickey without his makeup on. Shocking, I know.

Besides the adrenaline-pumping rides, Disneyland Paris is also peppered with restaurants that cater to every conceivable palette, be it the finicky eater or the adventurous foodie. You've not lived until you've tried a ratatouille in the very land that inspired the movie "Ratatouille". And while you're munching on that, the parades! Oh, the parades – a kaleidoscopic procession of characters that'll make you nostalgic for the times when your knees didn't creak.

And because the universe loves balance, Disneyland Paris also offers quieter moments. Beautifully landscaped gardens where you can take a breather, ponder over life's mysteries, or simply scream internally because you've lost your favourite Mickey Mouse ears to a gust of wind.

In summary, Disneyland Paris is an enchanting cocoon that lets you press pause on the real world. It's where you can wear a princess gown or brandish a lightsaber and no one bats an eye. It's pure, unadulterated joy – with just a hint of pixie dust-induced madness.
