Inside the spectacular Forest Park of Culture, Bydgoszcz's small Zoo opened in 1978 and until recently was the only zoo in the country containing entirely native species. Now boasting around 300, the zoo offers a mildly interesting diversion for half an hour or so. Of particular interest among the bears and geese is the mini zoo, opened in 1994 for the purpose of both entertaining and educating local children.
